I had to laugh. Today a customer, one who has been shopping with us for a long while now, came in and asked if the eight foot Buddha by the front door was new. "No," I said, "It's been with us since we opened 12 years ago." Seems obvious and hard to miss, no? But it was a great reminder for me to take a good look around and look, really look at what's around me. Some things I miss entirely. Other things I take for granted because, in my mind, I've already taken them into account but how much do I miss in not really looking, not really seeing? So today I decided to see everything as if for the first time. If you come in and I seem to be looking at you as if I've never seen you before, fear not. I am simply putting into practice one of many resolutions for the New Year, to have my eyes open so I don't miss a thing.
